Macha Y El Bloque Depresivo

El Bloque Depresivo return to London after their hugely successful show in the capital last year, this time gracing the stage of the world's oldest and last surviving grand music hall, the historic Wilton’s Music Hall.

Led by Macha, lead singer of Chile’s legendary Chico Trujillo, here is a band that never really tried to exist, a band formed for the sole purpose of intentionally killing the vibe at concerts, of actually trying to bring down the audience, playing music intended to make happy people cry.

Starting out as a jam between friends, the secret is now truly out the bag - these guys sell out every show they play in Chile, rooms packed out with thousands of people. Taking in Peruvian waltzes, classic boleros and lost Chilean gems, their repertoire slowly developed to focus on true tear-jerkers, those guilty pleasures you just can’t escape, the intensely romantic love songs of pure suffering that they just don’t make anymore.

This is not one to miss - an incredibly rare chance to see one of the best bands in Chile and get lost in the sounds of times gone by, all amongst the faded glory of one of the East End’s most beautiful buildings.

Now the band is extending the boundaries of its acoustic style, interweaving folklore, the ancestral evocation of voices and the technological power of electronic beats. Having been touring the world for the best part of the last decade, they now bring their full live show to London’s Rich Mix for their UK debut.
