The Horniman Museum celebrates a latin summer

This summer the Horniman Museum is buzzing with latin vibes and rhythms! Mafua de Yaya, the andean Lokandes and the Venezuelan Afro America project have already performed in the Horniman Gardens as part of the summer bandstand concerts of the Museum’s latin summer. Picture 029Lokandes in the Horniman bandstand Root-folk latin ensemble Majagua will be playing inside the museum galleries on Friday 16th as part of the Latin Late at the Horniman, and Cumbé will be playing some traditional rhythms from the Atlantic coast of Colombia on Sunday 18th August. Come down to enjoy the folkloric beats of mapalé, bullerengue and cumbia ! The last bandstand concert will host Son Yambu on Sunday 25th August: authentic son from Cuba with a contemporary edge ! Finally, the Latin Music Fiesta will celebrate the end of the Latin American series of summer events: the programme includes carnival performances from Brazil, Argentinean tango, brass bands from Mexico, Peruvian party vibes and much more!
