New Sounds of Colombia

Come and taste some of Colombia’s most exciting new musical references who are heading to be part of this year’s Glastonbury Festival!

COLECTRO

(Tropical fusion, contemporary Colombian music)

COLECTRO are a Colombian musical collective that puts together a unique ensemble

of rhythms from the Caribbean such as Son de Garabato”, Bullerengue”, Son de negro, Jalao, and Chalupa; and combines them with world music genres like Soukous and Electronic.. This fusion makes an explosive experience filled with sonic emotions that will drive you to uncontrollably rise your feet.



MASILVA

(Afro-beat, trippy Latin American electronic sounds)

Masilva is a spacey and sonic Electroubadour who composes upbeat, trippy tunes based on Latin-American tradition and global sounds. His third album -Juglaría Gallinaza (July 2016)- is inspired by the sounds of Champeta, Tambora, Guaracha, Afro-Beat and Huayno together with Electro, Funk, Dub and Hip Hop. Featured in two songs is Psychedelic Champeta star Abelardo Carbonó. First two albums -Criollo Businessman and Condor- have been distributed in Colombia, Peru, Mexico and Japan. Producers like Richard Blair (Sidestepper) and Mad Professor have mixed and remixed his work.

Masilva’s albums, songs and videos have been reviewed by Red Bull Panamerika (Mexico), MTV Iggy (USA), Remezcla (USA), Sound and Colours (UK) among others and he has toured around Colombia, Perú, Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico.

Son Yambu, Malavita, Makala & Jimmy Bidaurreta + Tropical Pressure London Launch

A night of Latin grooves with a contemporary edge down at the Hoot! Son Yambu present a modern take on the sound of authentic Cuban son, continuing the Buena Vista legacy and letting it sit firmly in the 21st century. With incredible Cuban musicians making up the band Son Yambu’s live set is an experience not to miss. Alongside them, Malavita and Makala & Jimmy Bidaurreta will be getting the party started on stage, melding Latin influences with some funk and bass to get things going. Tropical Pressure DJs will also be on hand to launch their festival in London alongside Makala connecting the dots with a mix of tropical sounds, from classic to modern, across genres - get ready to dance!

Cinco De Mayo

Celebrating Cinco De Mayo with a mix of international live music, female mariachis, DJs, traditional dance, food and decor with a Mexican twist! Candeleros are flying in from Madrid with their modern twist on psychedelic cumbia and afro-latin rhythms alongside female-fronted mariachi duo Las Guadalupes and Jari Castillo. DJs Coco Maria, Gypsy Box and Cal Jader will be bringing the vibes from the decks throughout out the day, and with traditional dance from Mestizo Folklore and Atlachinolli Aztec Dance, this is set to be an almighty fiesta.

Manzana Tropical + Kit Sebastian + Mambo Chick + Cal Jader + Chonta DJ

Movimientos is back at Brixton’s legendary Hootananny with a stellar lineup of live tropical music! Having been making the rounds on London’s live circuit for years, Manzana Tropical will be presenting their full fat Peruvian Cumbia with an Amazonian twist, alongside fresh Mr Bongo signing Kit Sebastian with their melting pot of Jazz-tinged sounds from around the globe. Keeping things moving before and after, France’s Mambo Chick will be at the decks alongside our very own DJ Cal Jader.
