Image handling

IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS AND FORMATS

Naming Image and format conventions:
Please use a meaningful name related to the content of the image and keep it short but meaningful.

i.e if there is an image of -say Music group Orishas name it to: orishas.jpg
when you downloaded image from the Internet -say download with a name like 837e2cb4767ccd032de7121d6a03c638.jpg DO NOT upload the image with this kind of name, RENAME IT to something related with the image.
Same goes with images you took with your digital cameras they some with names like DSC020562.jpg again rename them to something related to the image, such as cubanhiphop01_march2007.jpg (a date would be useful at the end)

DO NOT use space between the image names i.e.
orishas 2007 London.jpg
if there is
change it to (use - dash if there is and you want a space on the image name)
orishas-2007-London.jpg
that is BEFORE you post the image (change it on your computer first)

dont use / slashes and . (dot) in the middle -dots comes before the extentions only-as in .jpg. use dash - or underscore _ to seperate a name

If more than one image similar content add 01, 02 etc. to the image i.e orishas01.jpg orishas02.jpg
image format you should use is .jpg and .png the images end with a dot (.)
do not rename a .gif or .raw or any other formatted image to .jpg or .png by just remaning the extension that does not change the format. Change the format with an image editor (i.e Photoshop) by opening and exporting as .jpg or .png

Image sizes: There is a resizing feature on the website
Currently it set to
for PREVIEW: Width: 100 pixels x Height: 80 pixels (that is smaller image next to the preview of an article teaser on the front 'home page' of the site

the website has a feature to shrink your image to that size without you doing anything for it
Image for the main BODY of the default: Width: 300 pixels x Height: 200 pixels
