Viola Chilensis

Violeta Parra was a sensible, intense and anti-establishment folk musician of the 1950s and 1960s, and considered to be the leader in the resurgence of traditional music in Chile. We see her sing, dance, weave, paint, and discuss the concepts of her work. Alongside rare recordings of her performances, the film features interviews with family and friends including her brothers, poet Nicanor and jazz maestro Tio Lalo Parra, her daughter, singer Isabel Parra, and fellow musicians Silvio Rodriguez, Mercedes Sosa, Inti Illimani and more.
