Special DVD launch screening:-
Film: El Violin
Elderly Don Plutarco (Tavira), his son Genaro and grandson Lucio are humble rural musicians who also support the campesina peasant guerilla movement’s armed efforts. When the military seizes their village, the inhabitants flee, leaving ammunition behind. Playing on his appearance as a harmless violin player to secure the trust of the vain captain (who fancies himself as a musician), old
Don Plutarco has a plan to recover the ammunition through charm and steely nerves. Beautifully shot in black and white, EL VIOLÍN is anchored on the amazing performance by Tavira (an actual violinist) and Gama as the captain. Through its juxtaposition of gorgeous images and shocking violence, the film evokes the struggle between peasants and government, duty and pleasure
El Violin is released on the 24th March by Soda Pictures
